Kidney Transplant Patient Portal
A bilingual (Arabic / English) patient-education portal for kidney transplant recipients across the Arab world. Built on the Kuwait Center for Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation (KCNKT) Ibn Sina patient handbook, the portal walks recipients through preparation, the transplant operation, the early post-operative period, anti-rejection medications, daily life on immunosuppression, and long-term follow-up. Each chapter is available with audio narration in both languages.
Ask Sanad
Ask Sanad: type or speak a question about your transplant. Sanad answers the everyday questions of kidney transplant patients, in Arabic or English. Type your question or say it aloud. Most answers come from the guide's reviewed answers, written and reviewed by transplant nephrologists, with a link to the source; you can read them, and many can also be heard. When no reviewed answer fits, or to add detail to one, Sanad's AI may write a short new answer and labels it as AI. That answer is checked only by automatic safety rules: no doctor reviews it before you see it. ASNRT's doctor may review questions and AI answers later, and an answer the doctor approves is labelled as checked by ASNRT. Sanad can be wrong, may decline to answer, and has a daily limit on questions. Before you use Sanad, it asks your permission to read the health details you type. Decision-Aid Tools for Recipients
Four interactive tools support daily decisions: a Ramadan fasting tool that helps recipients work out — with their transplant team — whether and how to fast safely, a drug-food interaction lookup that flags common interactions with tacrolimus and cyclosporine, a red-flag symptom triage that tells recipients when to call the transplant clinic urgently versus wait until the next routine visit, and a pill guide that shows what common transplant medicines look like.

About this Portal
The portal is published by the Arab Society of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation (ASNRT) and is open access. The clinical content is adapted from the KCNKT Ibn Sina patient handbook — Kuwait's national transplant patient education resource — and reviewed by practicing transplant nephrologists. The portal is designed for adult kidney transplant recipients and their families.
