About ASNRT
The Arab Society of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation (ASNRT) was founded in 1985 to advance kidney care across the Arab world. The society is non-profit and scientific, operating through elected leadership, specialized committees, regular congresses, and the Arab Journal of Nephrology and Transplantation (AJNT).
Mission and Vision
ASNRT's mission is to improve kidney health across the Arab world by supporting research, advancing clinical practice, providing continuing medical education, and fostering collaboration among nephrologists, transplant surgeons, dialysis specialists, and renal nurses across 22 Arab countries.
History
Founded in 1985, ASNRT has grown to over 2,000 members across the Arab region. The society has held 17 international congresses to date; the 18th International Congress takes place in Erbil, Iraq, on 8–10 October 2026. ASNRT collaborates with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), the African Federation of Nephrology (AFRAN), the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD), and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) on educational and scientific initiatives.
Constitution and Past Presidents
ASNRT operates under a written constitution governing membership, elections, committees, and congresses. The society's past presidents have included leading nephrologists from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, and other member countries.
